Master Patrick McCarthy (7th Dan)

1973-1980: Began training in 1973 under the instruction of Mr. Aidan  Walsh. Promoted to black belt by Master Rhee Ki Ha. Opened first  school in Strawbery Hill, Cork with Mr. Alan Dalton.  Represented Ireland at the 1st European Championships, Crystal Palace, England. Promoted to 2nd Dan by Master Rhee Ki Ha.


 
1981-1985: Member of Irish team for Team Championships, Warwick  England (1981). Promoted to 3rd Dan by Master Hee Il Cho. Opened second school in Tralee, County Kerry in 1981. Organized the Kerry Open. Gold in Heavyweight sparring and power in the First Cork Open (1983). Trained and fought in WKA full contact kickboxing and promoted two shows in Tralee. First 10 students promoted to black belt, including Mr. Don Dalton.


 
1986-1996: Kerry Team Captain, Kerry versus Cork, gold in sparring and breaking (AITA). Immigrated to London and opened the London Panthers School of Taekwon-Do. Trained under Master Raymond Choi. Travelled to Ireland  to conduct a seminar for the South West TKD enter. Promoted to 4th Dan by panel headed by Master Bupinder Sahota in Wales. Bronze in sparring and patterns in the BUTF British Championships. Member of the IUTF Executive with responsibility for Ho Sin Sul. Conducted seminars for Caherciveen TKD, Galway TKD, Listowel TKD, and Cork IUTF. Began additional training in Jujitsu.


 
1997-2004: Conducted numerous seminars for the IUTF in Ireland and the AMA under Mr. Khalid Iqbal in the UK. Promoted to 5th Dan by Master Jose Goma March in the Gambia. Returned to the Gambia with team Ireland and conducted seminar there. Gold in special technique at the Taekwon-Do Explosion (Rayner’s Lane). Instructed at the IUTF instructor trips to Germany and Turkey. Promoted to 6th Dan by Master Morris Alarashi, Germany. Attended IIC under President Choi Jung Hwa. Promoted to black belt in Jujitsu after seven years training. Coach  for London Panthers at many national and international events. Coached at the ITF World Championships, Daejeon, South Korea. Attended the ITF European Championships in Wetzlar, Germany, winning a bronze medal in breaking.


 

2005-2010: Attended two IICs under President Choi Jung Hwa and two ITF International Referee and Umpire Courses under Master Galarraga. Hosted a number of seminars under Master Jose Maidana. Attended IIC under Master Galarraga in Spain. Promoted to 7th Dan after testing in Spain under Master Nestor Galarraga. Acted as official at the International Irish Championships. Promoted to 2nd Dan in Jujitsu. Conducted seminar in Japan (ITF). Conducted numerous seminars in Ireland and the UK.
